The construction of the IAAM began in January 2020 after 20 years of planning. The purpose of the International African American Museum is to tell the unravished stories of the African American experience across generations, the triumph that gave rise to a resilient people.

Hawaiian Style Koa Veneer Door

The most responsible use of natural resources due to the declining availability of natural wood are Veneer Doors. The wood grains intervened by slicing very thin layers of grain into sheets of natural material. They can be applied to flat surfaces, such as panels, plywood, or can be used as a door skin.

 

Veneer is an excellent way to build a standard-sized door, but when you are reaching for door heights which pass the 8 foot mark or widths that are greater than three-and-a-half feet wide, you start running into the risk of door failure.

Large veneer doors are entirely different. These oversized doors do not come off of a conveyor belt. They are usually a one-off build by a highly skilled artisan or team of craftsmen who are building these big veneered doors according to engineered architectural specifications.

The process of applying veneer isn’t simple. Just one wrong move can ruin your product, which means a large cost to fix the problems. That one mistake can even result in a whole new door. The Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation is leading an effort to redevelop a vacant office building on a key commercial corridor in the Greater Auburn Gresham community. The redevelopment of 839-45 West 79th Street is a development project that will not only urge additional development along the disinvested business district, but will also bring back to life a once prominent commercial building that has stood vacant for twenty years.

 

 

The redevelopment project is being implemented as part of the recently completed Auburn Gresham Quality of Life plan which has several strategies and tasks to improve the quality of life of residents in Auburn Gresham and surrounding communities. During the 1 1/2 year long planning process, more than one-thousand residents were engaged and took part in monthly discussions and together, divided into separate issue area task force teams. The task force teams focused on core areas including: jobs, economic and business development, health and wellness, education, youth development, and more. Sing Core At W. T. Brookshire Conference Center

Now speaking of large buildings, recently our panels can be found in the new W. T. Brookshire Conference Center. The conference center features upgraded design amenities with multiple conference rooms. The rooms are named after some of the roses in the legendary Tyler Rose Garden. The City of Tyler celebrated the opening of the new W. T. Brookshire Conference Center at the Tyler Rose Complex earlier this month. The city’s current and four previous mayors cut the ribbon for the new building.

 


 

The new state-of-the-art facility, constructed where Harvey Hall once stood, was built as the centerpiece of the Rose Complex. The city describes the new venue as “a three-acre park with a grand fountain standing before the mid-century-modern-inspired building to create an impressive and inviting entrance. The Center’s unique design brings the outdoor beauty of the Tyler Rose Garden indoors, even inspiring the names of each room. The center has a total of 50,230 square feet including a commercial catering kitchen with a loading dock, warmers, stainless steel counters and a walk-in refrigerator, a green room lounge, a multi-purpose room, smaller breakout rooms and theatrical lighting and sound system.
